covering the classics

Shayna recently introduced me to Creative Action Network, "a marketplace for original, visual, meaningful work, crowdsourced from a passionate community of artists & designers around the world." She just finished a Muir Woods poster for their See America campaign.

They also have a Covering the Classics campaign, wherein designers can submit their cover interpretations of classic books; you can buy the book (printed by Harvard Bookstore) in paperback with the design you like, or buy it as a poster. Here are some standout choices:
Jack London's Call of the Wild; cover by Michael van Kekem
Bram Stoker's Dracula; cover by Steve St. Pierre
Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea; cover by Darrell Stevens
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes; cover by Ioannis Fetanis
Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels; cover by Naomi Sloman
Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter; cover by MrFurious

stella in print

@shaynaroosevelt, I love the print!!!
How awesome is this print?! My friend Shayna started an Etsy shop where she's selling custom prints... So, of course I had to order one for Stella's room. It would be such an great gift for a friend with a new baby, don't you think? And, yes, I will be ordering one special for the new arrival when s/he gets here in July.

lisa congdon for hygge & west

Although we went the dark gray route on our living room walls (and absolutely LOVE it), I still pine after beautiful wallpaper, especially designs with gold accents like the wallpaper Lisa Congdon designed for Hygge & West. Gorgeous!

The Couple
I spotted a version of this print by Ashley G over at my friend Celia's house yesterday and fell in LOVE. After a look at Ms. Goldberg's Etsy shop, here are a few others that I want to put up on our walls...

bryan nash gill: woodcut

I posted about one of Bryan Nash Gill's amazing woodcut prints awhile back, and I'm still in awe. We picked up his new book Woodcut (PAP) at the bookstore today and I'm loving it. Each woodcut is like a fingerprint telling a story, evoking a mood and a persona. Simply gorgeous.

sea-room

Loving Sam Kallis' illustration based on this Frankenstein quote:
“We were nearly surrounded by ice, which closed in the ship on all sides, scarcely leaving her the sea-room in which she floated“ - Mary Shelley, "Frankenstein"
