my bucket list

The Blue Lagoon, Iceland by Steph Goralnick

Jordan loves to make fun of the fact that a few months ago I started a bucket list, as if a bucket list is only something older folks create when eye-to-eye with their own mortality. Maybe I started my bucket list because as a parent I feel time speeding up. And maybe I started it because I make lists nearly every day of my life so that I don't forget the things I need and the things I need to do on a given day. I know that my bucket list is partly inspired by my parents' own bucket lists (meet Obama? check!) and by Maggie Mason's Mighty Life List. Also, I feel as if writing these life goals down with actualize them in a way, will make them more tangible and more real. Here are a few I've come up with so far:
Swim in Iceland’s Blue Lagoon
Take a week-long trip with my girlfriends
Live in another country as a family for 1 month to 1 year
See the Northern Lights
Learn to make a really good cocktail
Give up electronics for one month
Learn how to play Yahtzee
Write a children’s book
Attend Alt Summit
Cook a really good steak
Learn to play the Ukelele

How about you... what's on your bucket list?

I will illustrate said children's book ;)

Perhaps calling it a "bucket list" is what throws Jordan?

I like the idea...might need to start one of my own.

My mom always made lists, saying that her intention gave things a jump start

I love the idea of a bucket list, Hank! It's like life resolutions instead of just New Year's - clear intentions. Mine would definitely include hot springs hopping in Iceland during the Northern Lights, too.

When giving up electronics, does that include things like the dishwasher and washing machine? Or is is phones, etc.

I could get into giving up the phones, TV, computer. But I'm totally not ready to give up the dishwasher.

I like your list.....and Maggie Mason's Mighty Life List is an especially elegant way to say it. Funny thing about lists....very satisfying to cross items off....but often more things get added on!
