naming

We toyed around with naming our daughter Freya for awhile, after one of the main characters in William Boyd's Any Human Heart. I think the name is beautiful, but ultimately Jordan did not. I also loved Saskia (called Sassy for short)...but Jordan did not. We've had our daughter's name picked for awhile, but I was brought back to the process of finding the right name when I received Village's email this morning showcasing their new fonts.

It made me wonder, do most type faces get designed and then named or does the name precede and therefore inform the design?
