The Blue Lagoon, Iceland by Steph Goralnick |
Jordan loves to make fun of the fact that a few months ago I started a bucket list, as if a bucket list is only something older folks create when eye-to-eye with their own mortality. Maybe I started my bucket list because as a parent I feel time speeding up. And maybe I started it because I make lists nearly every day of my life so that I don't forget the things I need and the things I need to do on a given day. I know that my bucket list is partly inspired by my parents' own bucket lists (meet Obama? check!) and by Maggie Mason's Mighty Life List. Also, I feel as if writing these life goals down with actualize them in a way, will make them more tangible and more real. Here are a few I've come up with so far:
Swim in Iceland’s Blue Lagoon
Take a week-long trip with my girlfriends
Live in another country as a family for 1 month to 1 year
See the Northern Lights
Learn to make a really good cocktail
Give up electronics for one month
Learn how to play Yahtzee
Write a children’s book
Attend Alt Summit
Cook a really good steak
Learn to play the Ukelele
How about you... what's on your bucket list?
